DNDA partners recognized as "Best of Seattle" by Seattle Weekly
Reverend Robert Jeffries and Clean Greens, West Seattle Blog, the West Seattle Tool Library, Easy Street Records, and Full Circle Farm were among those recognized as Best of Seattle by the Seattle Weekly.
Congratulations to these partners and friends for the recognition of their tremendous work!
Reverend Robert Jeffries and Clean Greens - Best Promoter of Food Justice: "'That's when I realized that bad food is killing poor people,' he says. 'If I, in my relatively privileged position with access to knowledge and better food, had almost died just by living, then I know that there are poor people out there who are dying every day.'"
Cari Simson and Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition - Best Toxic Avenger: "'We see the resurgence of wildlife,' says Simson, who for the past six years has been bringing students and other groups here to raise awareness of the river and its fate. As program manager for the Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition, she also organizes regular work parties. 'In April, we took two tons of trash out,' she says. 'We found toilets and live ammunition and all kinds of junk.'"
West Seattle Blog: From the death of a Chief Sealth High School grad in Afghanistan to the new hand dryers in the Camp Long restrooms, the scoop on all points west can be found here.
West Seattle Tool Library: "Run by Sustainable West Seattle out of South Seattle Community College's Horticulture Center every Thursday and Saturday, the Tool Library's volunteers will help you learn how to use your tool of choice if you're not so handy."
Easy Street Records: "LPs and EPs from every band you've heard of, ones you've never heard of, and probably ones that don't exist yet."
Full Circle Farm: Organic produce from the Snoqualmie Valley has readers getting to the farmers markets early, and signing up for CSA boxes too.
