Letter to one of Winterfest’s 2004 Donors

Dear Bobette Scheid,

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to the families served by our Housing Resource Program. The Adopt-A-Family Winter Celebration was a huge success. It started out as a small idea to assist families who I work with on a regular basis. And expanded to this full fledge project. Overall, we received over $15,000 worth of in-kind support. (this includes volunteer time spent on this project)

Most of our applicants are far below the 50% level; we have a waitlist of about 200 people and of those 200 people only 30 people make earn enough to afford our $695/month, 2 bedroom affordable units. 75% of our clients receive a form of government assistance which places them below the poverty level; also considered as hard to serve.

With your help this year we were able to provide 75 families with winter assistance!

I am floored by the huge response we received. The families attended our Winter Celebration event on Saturday, December 18^th and enjoyed warm holiday treats and beverages, photos with Santa, and the wonderful sounds and spirit of the season!!! We received an enormous amount of volunteer support and in-kind donations
